The design and technology curriculum provides plenty of opportunities to inspire creativity and wonder in the children at Avonwood. We have used the curriculum to create an overview of three design and technology areas across each year group, with the opportunity to build on prior learning. There are a variety of essential skills taught across the areas of structures, mechanisms, textiles and cooking and nutrition, with electrical systems introduced in Key Stage 2. These areas will provide the children at Avonwood with the opportunities to design, make and evaluate a product, whilst also building upon their technical knowledge. The projects currently selected are based closely on other wider curriculum learning where possible. For example, in Year 4, science learning on electricity is used when the children create torches during the Spring term.
