Allergies

At Avonwood Primary School we have a number of children with allergies, some severe.

To help keep everyone safe we ask the following:

Nut Free School

Avonwood Primary School is a nut free school. Parents should never send in items known to contain nuts. Where many food items state 'may contain nuts', these items are permitted. However, if there is a child with a severe allergy in your class, we may need to restrict this. Parents will be informed of this at the start of the school year.

Items we ask parents to avoid include:

  • Peanut butter
  • Hummus (contains sesame oil which can still be a trigger for nut allergies)
  • Chocolate bars with nuts
  • Nutella style chocolate spreads
  • Hand cream / sun cream that contains nut based oils

Children With Allergies

If you child has an allergy, please arrange a meeting with our SENDCO to organise a medical health care plan.
