Admissions

In the section below you will be able to find out about the admissions process for Avonwood Primary School. Should you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to contact us via our admissions help desk email:

admissions@avonwoodprimaryschool.org.uk

Due to the Coronavirus we are currently unable to offer our normal open evenings and tours. In replace of this we are providing a virual parents evening and video tours. Click this link for more information.

Our PAN for September 2021 is 60 spaces, split into two classes of 30 children.

We surveyed exisiting parents in September 2021 and just 13 families have siblings planning to apply for places.

The gates open for children at 8:50am and school closes at 3:15pm.

A breakfast club runs from 7:30am and costs £5.00 a session to include cereal, toast and drink. An after school club currently runs until 6.00pm every day and costs £12.00 a session to include a snack and a drink.

During the summer term Mr Jackson (Headteacher) or Mrs Williams (Deputy Headteacher) will visit or call all the Nursery Schools to discuss our new starters with their key workers. This helps the creation of the class lists.

Parents are invited to an Information evening and the children are invited to two teddy bear club sessions in July. They bring a cuddly toy to these sessions and meet with their class teacher, teaching assistant and other children in their class. They bring home with them a photo book with relevant information about starting school.

We normally offer day time tours during the Autumn term. The tours are normally in groups of 6 to 8 parents. Tour slots tend to get booked up well in advance so please contact our office team in September to reserve a space. Due to being heavily over subscribed we are unable to offer addional tours later in the school year. Sadly due to the Coronavirus we are currently unable to offer any tours.

Our meals are all freshly prepared by our on-site chef. There is always a vegetarian alternative and a dessert. You can find an example menu on the parents section of this website.

If Avonwood is your chosen school we always encourage parents to place their child on our waiting list. Spaces will come up from time to time so please keep your childs name on our waiting list. To do this please contact our Admissions Officer, Gill Tanner, by emailing: admissions@avonbourneacademy.org.uk

To date we have never gone beyond class sizes of 30. The main reason is to protect the standard of education on offer to children at Avonwood. The school was also purpose built to house class sizes of a maximum of 30 children.
