If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 they are due to start in the Reception class at a primary school from September 2020. You must apply for a Reception class for your child even if they attend a school nursery or have an older brother or sister at your preferred school please see our admissions policy for full details.

The eAdmissions website for online applications opens on Friday 1 September and the closing date for applications is 15 January 2020.

We are extremely lucky to have all the meals freshly prepared by Trust on-site Chef. There is always a vegetarian alternative and a dessert.

The gates open for children at 8:50am and school closes at 3:15pm.

A breakfast club runs from 7:30am and costs £4.00 a session to include cereal, toast and drink. An after school club currently runs until 6.00pm every day and costs £12.00 a session to include a snack and a drink.

During the summer term Mr Jackson (Headteacher) or Mrs Williams (Assistant Headteacher) will visit or call all the Nursery Schools to discuss our new starters with their key workers. This helps the creation of the class lists.

Parents are invited to an Information evening and the children are invited to two teddy bear club sessions in July. They bring a cuddly toy to these sessions and meet with their class teacher, teaching assistant and other children in their class. They bring home with them a photo book with relevant information about starting school.

We offer day time  tours during the Autumn term. The tours are normally in groups of 6 to 8 parents. Tour slots tend to get booked up well in advance so please contact our office team in September to reserve a space. Due to being heavily over subscribed we are unable to offer addional tours later in the school year.

Our PAN for September 2020 is 60 spaces, split into two classes of 30 children.

If Avonwood is your chosen school we always encourage parents to place their child on our waiting list. Spaces will come up from time to time so please keep your childs name on our waiting list. To do this please contact our Admissions Officer, Gill Tanner.

To date we have never gone beyond class sizes of 30. The main reason is to protect the standard of education on offer to children at Avonwood. The school was also purpose built to house class sizes of a maximum of 30 children.
